Appeal court postpones Migori Governor Zachary Obado's contempt case

The Court of Appeal has temporarily halted contempt of court proceedings against Migori Governor Zachary Obado, which was filed by a former official in his county government.

The legal battle between Obado and his former County Executive Member in charge of Public Works, Roads and Transport Major (Rtd) Erastus Nyamori was to be heard at the Industrial Court in Kisumu but the application to stop the process saw the governor given an ear by the Appeals Court.

Lady Justice Hellen Wasilwa of the Industrial Court had ordered that Obado reinstate Nyamori before subjecting him to the due process of terminating his contract.

The application was postponed for hearing on February 12 after the respondent prayed for more time to prepare.

A bench of three Appeal judges led by Justice David Maraga will preside over the application.
