Former President Daniel arap Moi: Develop sound policies

Former President Daniel arap Moi has challenged leaders to develop policies to help address challenges affecting the country.

He said the leaders ought to come up with strategies that would help curb issues of insecurity, fast-track development, accelerate access to education and ensure prudent spending of public resources.

He called upon leaders to work together to unite Kenyans and ensure peace prevails to help attract investors for the growth and development of the economy.

“It is disheartening to witness innocent Kenyans being killed due to security lapse, yet there are leaders charged with the responsibility of protecting them,” he said.

Tangible programmes

In education, the retired President urged leaders to utilise Constituency Development Fund to upgrade learning institutions and to invest in tangible programmes to help boost performance.

He also called upon the media disseminate peaceful information to enhance peace and development.

“The media plays an integral role in transforming the society. I am appealing to media to spread peace and information that would help develop the country,” he urged.

Moi spoke on Friday in Iten town when he opened Trans National Bank branch. In attendance were the Trans National Bank Chief Executive Officer Sammy Langat, governors Alex Tolgos (Elgeyo Marakwet), Benjamin Cheboi (Baringo) and Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu). Former legislators Nicholas Biwott, Prof Margaret Kamar and Lucas Chepkitony also graced the occasion.
