Kitui, Kenya: Wiper Democratic Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has condemned the discriminatory manner in which the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) withdrew the digital frequencies licenses of three leading Kenyan media.

Kalonzo said media plays a pivotal role to inform the world and thus the move by CA is regrettable and against the spirit of media freedom which is enshrined in our constitution.

The Wiper leader who was speaking in Miambani, Kitui County where he attended the commissioning of 287KMs worth of road network constructed across the county said media freedom is paramount to any developing Nation.

On matters legal, the Wiper leader applauded the decision by a five-judge bench to uphold an earlier ruling to suspend the draconian security amendment law from implementation.

He said this trend is giving hope to many Kenyans that institutions can uphold independency on matter of grave national importance.

On matter devolution, Kalonzo said Governor across the country share only fifteen per cent of the total revenue, which is not sufficient for greater Development programmes.

He said the OKOA Kenya initiative is aimed at increasing the allocation to at least forty percent to enable Governor deliver major projects like roads tarmacking.

He urged residents to support the initiative, which will have far reaching changes to their benefit.

Governor Julius Malombe and Senator David Musila supporter his sentiments saying the only way to empower the local mwanchi is to increase the allocation of funds to the counties.
