The Methodist Churches of Kenya have lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta's move to assent to the controversial security law, saying it will help boost security and combat increasing cases of terror attacks.

Methodist Presiding Bishop Rev Joseph Ntombura said the Security Law Amendment Act 2014 will stem terrorism activities in the country and called on all Kenyans to support it.

He termed those opposed to it as enemies of a peaceful Kenya.

Addressing faithful at Kenya Methodist University during the close of a three-day women fellowship Convention in Meru, the bishop also condemned last week's wrangles that marred Parliament, saying the behaviour some MPs was immature and uncivilised.

"We cannot have people who fight in Parliament. I thought we elected leaders with integrity. What they portrayed in Parliament was embarrassing and a shame to this country," said Ntombura.

He condemned the killing of innocent Kenyans in Mandera.
