I support security laws, says Nacada Chairman John Mututho

National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (Nacada) Chairman John Mututho has said he fully supports the amendments to the new security laws.

Speaking in Nakuru town Sunday, Mr Mututho said the laws sought to restore security and end terror attacks.

Mututho also asked political leaders, the international community and every Kenyan to support the implementation of the law regardless of political and tribal affiliations.

"When America was hit by terror, there was a response within 48 hours that brought legislative agenda resulting in the Patriotic Act. It is through the Act that America is enjoying security," he noted.

The Nacada boss observed that security laws should be reviewed in accordance with the situation in Kenya and in the world, with security teams well-trained to handle insecurity.

He lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing Joseph Nkaissery to head the security docket.

He asked security agents to man all border points and towns to prevent illegal immigrants from operating in the country.

Mututho, however, condemned National Assembly members for resorting to physical fights during discussion of the bill.

He said Kenyans expected elected leaders to discuss the draft laws critically and shed light on their impact on restoring security.
