Why women easily fall for liars!

Counties

Manipulating man

“Women love liars, no woman wants to hear the truth.” That was what my father told me last weekend while having a chat with him.

And when I tried to object, being the feminist I am, he stood by his word and told me that in all the many years he has lived on this earth he has come to learn that no woman wants to hear the truth.

He went on to say that women have always fallen in love with men who have mastered the art of manipulating the truth. At first I was offended and even shocked that my father, a gentleman I have known to be a strong believer in empowerment of women, could make such a sexist pronouncement.

I mean, what does it say about us women, are we so vain that we are unable to handle the truth or are lies simply more romantic and easier to listen to?

Then in the midst of my crisis, last week a number of ladies posted something very interesting on social media. They made a public spectacle of some Doctor Allan, claiming that he duped them and conned them out of money, with amounts ranging from Sh10,000 to Sh500,000.

Ironically, the list of women included public figures, educated and successful women. Why was he able to pull off such a scam?

Well, this is perhaps because he is a doctor and every woman naively assumes that once you have that title you are obviously a millionaire who swims in money every night!

Away from the dishonourable doctor, in the last one year stories of women dating and even marrying conmen have doubled, if not tripled.

Men these days will go as far as hiring cars or houses over the weekend in order to create the illusion of wealth. Recently, a friend of mine married the man of her dreams, a business man who gave her everything her heart desired; from the outrageous dowry her parents asked for, complete with the wedding of her dreams.

Master of manipulation

Yet the said man’s office was a miserable looking cubicle office in downtown Nairobi. Yes, I repeat, he worked in some miserable-looking cubicle, yet my friend’s alarm bells did not ring, so now they are married and while her husband stays home and watches television in the name of searching for work, she is out working and paying a few loans here and there because her man in fact never really had a booming business.

He just was a master of manipulation when it came to telling the truth. Women need to wake up and smell the coffee, the love scene is a battlefield, and so someone has to win.

Men have realised that women love people with money. And, indeed, many will confess that they are looking for men who can provide not only today but tomorrow for our children. It is no longer a secret.

Thus men now know that all they have to do to get a woman is to pretend to be wealthy. It is all about creating the image of wealth until you get the woman of your dreams.

So women, to avoid disappointments and embarrassment, let me give you some advice. Before giving any man a chance, snoop around and investigate him. Even if it means stalking him on social media; know his friends; visit his office and do proper background checks before you declare your undying love! Don’t say you were not warned.
