Outgoing IG David Kimaiyo moves more than 100 senior police officers

NAIROBI: More than 100 senior police officers have been moved and confirmed to new ranks and positions in changes announced by Inspector General of police David Kimaiyo.

Kimaiyo appointed new regional commanders who include Benson Kibue (Nairobi), Gideon Amalla (Rift Valley), Moses Ombati (North Eastern), Robert Kitur (Coast), Willy Lugusa (Nyanza), Gerald Mbaabu (Western), David Baya (Eastern), Larry Kyeng (Central) and directors who include Stephen Chelimo (Inspections), Mercus Ocholla (personnel), Philip Ndolo (operations) and Agrey Adoli (Community policing).

Those he placed in his office include Patrick Ochieng (Airwing), William Saiya (Small Arms), Julius Kanampiu, Kingori Mwangi, Leo Nyongesa, Boniface Maingi, Miriam Ngina, Kapchanga Kitoo, William Okello, Erick Kiraithe (KAA), Otieno Arison, Jamaes Mwaniki, Joseph Kiget, Silas Mc Opiyo, Humphrey Wanzala and Mohamed Hapi.

The new police spokesman is George Kinoti who has been as the in charge of security at Central Bank of Kenya while the commanders for Mandera, Wajir, Narok and Tana River were moved.

The new commanders include Job Boronjo (Mandera), Samuel Mukinda (Wajir), Peter Mwania (Nandi), John Omusinga (Homa Bay), John Okello (Embu), Jecinta Odhiambo (Machakos), David Bunei (Kirinyaga), Clement Gatogo (Narok), Walter Aliwa (Tana River) while Joseph Limo will be the deputy commander for Nairobi.

Noor Gabow is the deputy commandant Kiganjo College while Gabriel Musau will be the Chief Instructor.

In CID, the new commanders include Mohamed Amin (operations CID hq), Nicholas Kamwende (Nairobi), Joseph Ngisa (Investigations CID hq), Judy Ndenda (Kapu), Munga Nyale (Anti-Terror police), Abubakar Maalim (CIU), Patrick Ndunda (Criminal Registry), Julius Sunkuli (Logistics), Mary Kaol (Railways), Zephania Kamau (Surgeon), Jecinta Kinyua (Personnel), Henry Ondiek (Mombasa), John Mulaulu (Narok), Peris Muthoni (KRA), Francis Njiru (Nyeri), Boniface Ngatia (Kajiado), Mohamed Said (Flying Squad) and Shem Nyamboki (Kitui).

In Administration Police those placed under the office of the Deputy Inspector General’s office include Peter Pamba, Elijah Osodo, James Nderitu, Dickson Njiru, Jones Kavoi, Francis Mburu, Tom ole Keis, Moses Kipsambu and ole Matektek while the new commanders include Joseph Chepkeitany (Kisumu), Christopher Muthee, Omar Shuria (APTC) and Kirathe Francis (Mombasa).

The other commanders and holders of the police positions were not touched.

The changes were communicated to the commanders on Tuesday and were discussed Thursday at a National Police Service Commission meeting, which was attended by Kimaiyo and his deputies Grace Kaindi (Kenya police) and Samuel Arachi (AP).
