Trade affected in Turkana County as river Kawalasee overflows

Transport was paralysed along Lodwar-Kakuma Road after River Kawalasee burst its banks after a heavy rainfall on Thursday night.

Turkana County Director in charge of Trade James Lokwale, said the flooding had affected businesses.

"Business people have suffered serious losses especially those who deal in perishable goods," said Lokwale. More than 300 motorists were forced to spend the night by the river with the hope that the water levels would subside soon.

Kawalasee is a seasonal river, which had dried up but when it rained recently, it overflowed making the roads impassable.
