Officers read witch hunt in robbery case

A case involving two police officers and a civilian who are accused of violently robbing a man of USD10,000 (approximately Sh840,000) took a new twist yesterday after the accused blamed the police of witch hunt.

The trio, Naphtali Muira Mwangi, Stephen Ndirangu Mbatia and Eric Mulinge Makau who appeared before Justice S M Mungai, were accused of violently robbing Isaac Ndung’u Mungai a year ago in Naivasha.

The court heard that the officers were identified by the complainant during an identification parade.

However, through their lawyer David Mongeri, the officers alleged that powers that be wanted them out of the forces and implicated them in the case. The case was adjourned to February 5, next year.
