Daniel Sturridge suffers yet another injury, set for scan to determine extent of injury

Daniel Sturridge is due to undergo a scan today amid fears he could be out for several more weeks.

Sturridge, 25, is being assessed by Liverpool's medical staff today after damaging his thigh again in training yesterday.

It is Sturridge's third injury since he was first crocked with England in early September and Liverpool fear he has damaged his muscle and could be out until near Christmas.

This would be a hammer blow for Liverpool because Sturridge would miss their last two Champions League games and key Premier League clashes against Stoke, Leicester, Sunderland and Manchester United.

Liverpool have struggled badly for goals without their star striker, who netted 21 league goals last season, with Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini not managing a single league strike between them.

The Reds have managed just 14 goals this season and Sturridge's latest lay-off could spell the end of their slim hopes of progressing in the Champions League.

Liverpool, sitting 11th in the Premier League, head to Crystal Palace this weekend.
