ODM leader Raila Odinga speaks on Magerer attack, calls for investigations

NAIROBI, KENYA: ODM party leader Raila Odinga on Friday condemned attack on official Magerer Langat calling for investigations ahead of next week NEC meeting.

In a statement, Raila said the party is concerned about Thursday’s events in which its Executive Director was forcefully ejected from a meeting at its headquarters.

Some of those who participated in the violence owned up while others were clearly captured by camera.

“I call upon the police and other law enforcement arms of government to take up the matter and ensure justice is done. The party's National Executive Committee will also meet next week to deliberate further on the matter,” he said.

“In the meantime, I urge all ODM members to know that violence and intimidation are totally unacceptable. I encourage all members to respect democratic principles and contribute to a peaceful, just and democratic society.”
