Videos of dead aid workers shocking

Nairobi; Kenya: A series of beheadings targeting British and American nationals being perpetrated by a terror group dubbed the Islamic State (IS) whose operational bases are in Syria and Iraq have disgusted the world.

The terror group which thrived on the Syrian civil war has shocked the world with its series of recorded beheadings.

Within the past two months, the group has beheaded two American journalists and two British aid workers purportedly for the atrocities committed by their soldiers in the Middle-East.

On November 22, 2013, American journalist James Foley disappeared from northwest of Syria where he was covering the war.

Foley was reported to have been abducted by gunmen near the country’s border with Syria and little was heard of him until last August 19 when he appeared in a blood-curdling video posted online by IS.

In the video, the helpless journalist is forced to reprimand his Government for atrocities it had committed against Islamic states and ordered to identify America as “the real killers”, before the militants chop his head off.

A militant is heard warning the American government, and President Barack Obama — in an accent believed to be British — that a life of another American citizens, is in his hands.

At the end of the video, the militant parades another American journalist Steven Sotloff, with the chilling message: “The life of this American citizen, Obama, depends on your next decision.”

Sotloff’s mother made a special plea to the Islamists to spare her son whom she said was an innocent journalist.

“Steven travelled to the Middle East to cover the suffering of Muslims at the hands of tyrants. He is an honourable man and has always tried to help the weak,” his mother Shirley Sotloff pleaded.

But her plea fell on deaf ears, as the militants made good their threat in September and transmitted their gruesome act worldwide, through another blood-curdling video.

The video shows a masked man decapitating Sotloff — and shockingly, he has the same British accent as the militant who decapitated Foley.

This time, the video ends with the masked militant saying: “I am back Obama.”

But the stream of threats for further decapitations was far from over, with the militants then warning that the reign of terror would be shifted to British hostages.

Barely weeks after the gruesome murders of the two journalists, British aid worker David Haines — who was abducted in Syria while on humanitarian duty — was the next victim of the IS reign of terror, in a video titled, ‘Message to allies of America’.

The video, which runs for two minutes and 28 seconds shows a masked militant gruesomely beheading Haines, and ends with a warning that a second British hostage will be the next to die.

British Prime Minister David Cameron condemned the murder: “This is a despicable and appalling murder of an innocent aid worker. It is an act of pure evil,” The Guardian reported.

“We will do everything in our power to hunt down these murderers and ensure they face justice, however long it takes.”

But before the dust settled, this month, the terrorists released yet another video, this time showing a volunteer British aid worker Allan Henning, being subjected to the same bloody justice.

Cameron reacted to the murder of the aid worker with rebuke to the IS terror group: “The fact that he was taken hostage when trying to help others and has now been murdered demonstrates that there are no limits to the depravity of these terrorists...”

However, the wave of decapitations have not held back western states in their onslaught of the IS terrorists, with the British House of Commons recently sanctioning air strikes against the group.
