Woman spins seduction story to avoid repaying loan

Lady Speak

Mr Gakuru is a businessman who deals mainly in electronics. He runs an appliance shop that also doubles as a phone and electronics repair station in a Nakuru County village. He is popular in the area and is usually referred to as Gakuru wa Thimo (Gakuru the phone man). Most of the residents in the village own cheap, Chinese handsets. Gakuru makes trips to Nakuru town twice or thrice a week to buy new stock. With many residents connecting to the main grid, his business is thriving. While looking for accessories for a particular high end phone, he was referred to a certain stall. A smartly dressed lady welcomed him and asked how she could help. Her persuasive manner of speaking had him buying more of her merchandise than he bargained for. She then gave him a discount. With time, he became a regular. As the two got to know each other well, he realised she was only interested in his money. She only asked questions regarding his businesses especially how much cash he made monthly. He confesses to have been so impressed with her that he didn't see any red flags. Not long ago, he stopped by her shop as usual. After making a few purchases, the saleslady, whose beauty made it hard to guess her age, detained him. She told him how her business was struggling and she needed a quick loan of Sh10, 000 to settle her debts. She promised to repay him within a fortnight. Gakuru dashed out to withdraw some money. On returning, he met her with a chubby looking woman she said was her sister. She claimed her sister was a civil servant who would witness their transaction. What’s more, she would be the guarantee to the same. He gave her the money and the two parted ways amicably. On the day she was supposed to repay him, he showed up and found her with her ‘civil servant’ sister, and a man she said was a business associate. Gakuru asked for his money back. She denied owing him any money. Her sister also denied witnessing any deal between the two. And in a change of tact, the saleslady said he was coming to her stall to idle. She claimed he was seducing her and that was why he gave her some money. Mr Gakuru, who was by now visibly angry, was told by the ‘business associate’ to leave his wife alone.
