There is a plot to dislodge us, Ukambani governors say

The three Ukambani governors have accused political saboteurs within and outside the dominant Wiper party of stirring up trouble in the region.

The CORD governors alleged an orchestrated strategy by top and influential leaders in the region to destabilise their development agenda ahead of the 2017 General Election.

However, Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and Julius Malombe (Kitui) vowed not to be bogged down or intimidated by those they termed as political vandals who were sponsoring Members of the County Assembly, MPs and senators to discredit them in a well-crafted scheme developed by the corruption networks they had dismantled.

The three made a declaration that they will not be pulled into meaningless political feuds by those out to scuttle the region's unity for selfish interests.

They were speaking during the burial of Malombe's uncle Joseph Mulwa Kithuku, 69, at his Ithiani village home, Kitui Central constituency in Kitui County on Saturday.
