Kuresoi MP Zakayo Cheruiyot wants counties to manage Mau

Kuresoi MP Zakayo Cheruiyot has urged the national government to let four counties manage the Mau Forest Complex to avert further degradation.

Mr Cheruiyot said the answer to the conservation of the vital water tower lies with the governors of Nakuru, Bomet, Kericho and Narok counties, which neighbour the vast forest that has been under threat from illegal loggers and charcoal burners.

"It is time the national government realised that the answer to the conservation of Mau now lies with the four counties. Sorting out the Mau can only be done by empowering the four governors," said the legislator.
