Parents told to supplement Free Primary Education

Rachuonyo South sub-county director of Education Sospeter Were has said the amount of money allocated to each child by the Government is insufficient, and told parents to contribute additional levies to improve standards of education in Homa Bay County.

Were said he had received complaints from head teachers that many parents had stopped paying school levies meant for supplementing Free Primary Education (FPE) funds given by the Government.

"Failure by parents to support FPE is an obstacle to uplifting standards of education in the county. I call upon parents to chip in additional funds to supplement the FPE cash," Were said when he presided over the release of mock results.
