GSU head of operations moved in police reshuffle

Kenya: The Head of Operations at the General Service Unit (GSU) Anthony Kamitu has been moved in a mini-reshuffle.

Mr Kamitu has been moved to police headquarters, Vigilance House, logistics section and will be replaced by Kasarani OCPD Augustine Nthumbi.

The new Kasarani OCPD is John Kamau who had been at the Nyeri County, operations section.

The deputy head of Anti-Stock Theft Unit John Omusanga has also been moved to the Railways section in the same capacity. Mr Omusanga will be replaced by Job Boronjo from GSU headquarters.

Officials said the changes were aimed at managing transition. “Most of those moved to the new places are supposed to be oriented as their seniors plan to retire,” explained one senior officer who asked not to be named.

GSU is crucial in police operations and protection of VIPs. The changes came after more than ten others were moved last week.

They included Kisumu County Police Commander David Ngetich who has been moved to Kenya Airports Police Unit (KAPU) operations area.
