Lorry hits, kills two teenage sisters

Wreckage of a lorry

Kisumu; Kenya: Two teenage sisters died after a lorry that veered off the Kisumu-Bondo Road at Kisian Junction in Kisumu County hit them.

The early morning crash claimed the lives of Winnie Achieng Siwa, 15, and Lorna Siwa, 12, a few hours after they laid their grandmother to rest.

Winnie, a Form One student at Mbaka Oromo Secondary School and Lorna, a Standard Six pupil at Kibwayi Primary School were buying loaves of bread when they met their death.

The lorry, owned by Sinohydro Company, veered off the road as the driver tried to overtake another lorry. It hit a motorcycle and dragged it for a hundred metres.
