The drama and twists threatening to separate Tanzania's most celebrated couple

Just after returning from Texas, USA where he was crowned East Africa’s Best Male Artiste during the 2014 African Music Magazine Music Awards (AFRIMMA), Diamond, the Number One hit maker, shocked the world by announcing he had no plans of getting married.

“Unajua unaweza kuona kama vile nazungumza kitu cha utani lakini ndiyo ukweli wenyewe. Kuna wanamuziki wengi walikuwa kwenye peak (kileleni) lakini walipooa tu ‘kiki’ yao ilishuka ghafla katika muziki na wengine wamepotea kabisa,” (You may think that I am joking but that is the truth.

There are many musicians who were at their peak but they lost all the musical kick when they got married some even disappeared forever),” Diamond told Tanzania’s Global Publishers.

The announcement was a shocker to all as in the beginning of the year, Diamond, who had reunited with Wema, his model girlfriend of many years, had announced he was planning to settle down with her.

The report Pulse received stated that after Diamond’s sentiments, a number of Bongo artistes and fans castigated Diamond for ‘using his long-time girlfriend Wema Isaac Sepetu for his own selfish gains.’

Apparently, the sassy diva had no idea that the love of her life had no plans of tying the knot any time soon. A source, speaking to Pulse from Tanzania on anonymity, blamed Wema for living a lie whenever she is with Diamond.

“She loses her head na kuanza kufanya mambo yasiyo na msingi na pia anasahau hata kazi yake ya kuigiza (...and starts doing pointless things, even forgetting her acting career).

That’s why a group calling itself Fans of Wema Sepetu started an online campaign with the aim of not only saving her from Diamond but also to help her wake up from the dream ‘till death do us part’ with Diamond,” said our source.

Using #BringBackOurWema, tweets about the two lovebirds became the talk of Tanzania with a series of inflammatory and extraneous online postings trying to censure Diamond.

But it did not take long before Diamond responded to the trolls telling them off about Wema.

Diamond stated on his Facebook page that whoever cared about ‘their beloved actress’ should first advise her to only focus on what adds value to her life and not being a party animal in the name of being his friend.

“Mimi kama bwana, wajibu wangu ni kuhakikisha mpenzi wangu anakula vizuri, anavaa vizuri, analala vizuri, na kumuwezesha mtaji wa kufanyia kazi....” (As a man, it is my duty to ensure my lover eats well, lives well, dresses, and sleeps well and to see to it that she has a good working environment)

“Waswahili wanasema mchungaji bora anatakiwa kuhakikisha anampeleka ng’ombe wake kwenye maji safi....ila yeye ng’ombe mwenyewe ndio anatakiwa aamue kunywa maji...” (The Swahili say that a good shepherd takes the cow to a clean watering point, but it is the animal that takes it upon itself to drink the water, Diamond said.

As stories about Wema’s life took centre stage, the 2006 Miss Tanzania took to social media where she wrote; “My life my rules! Unataka kushindana na mimi....? Nakuonea huruma... (You want to compete with me..? I pity you...) Wema will always be...”

It is also believed that reports about former Gor Mahia FC tactician Zdravko Logarusic trying to ‘sign’ Wema while Diamond was away fuelled bad blood between the two. Logarusic who was then coaching Tanzanian side Simba SC has never hidden his preference for beauties even during his stint in Kenya.
