CIC warns Senate to use its powers sparingly

The Senate should use its right to summon governors and county government officials sparingly, the Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution (CIC) has warned.

This comes in the wake of a press statement published in the dailies by the Council of Governors explaining why they were not honouring the summons from the Senate.

The CIC said though there might have been misuse of power by the Senate, the governors and county executive members of finance should honour the summons so that they can raise the question of unconstitutionality of the matters raised or the process relating to making the summons.
