Are short men out of Kenyan women's legue?

Short man

Dating is taxing. Sifting through a multitude of sex-crazed weirdos and desperate blokes is not for the wimpy.

Perhaps I have set the bar too high for our clueless Kenyan men.

In a parallel universe, we would have a Pinocchio-like capsule for producing perfect men.

You just punch in the desired attributes and voila!, you save yourself an avalanche of face palms and ‘what the hell’ encounters in the dating game.

I’m not in the business of kissing frogs. Life is too short. After a string of bad dates, I am wondering if maybe the time hasn’t come for me to pack my bags and hightail it to a convent.

Recently, I was waltzing through the mall minding my own business until I noticed this guy checking me out. He wasn’t particularly acing it in the looks department, neither was he dangling some German car keys in his hand.

But I have mellowed quite a bit of late, so I decide to give him the benefit of doubt. In any case, my love life is stuck in a rut. There was nothing to lose. I flashed him a dazzling smile and he promptly sauntered over.

Up close, my hopes of landing my prince charming quickly evaporated as I realised he was a little too short for my taste.

I was rocking flat shoes, yet I was several inches over the top of his head. Huge deal breaker. Also, he is a little rough around the edges. Surely, he can tell he is not in my league.

But my mystery man is positively beaming. A brother can dream, aye?

He invites me for coffee. Against my better judgment, I agree.

We head to an upscale café around the corner. On the way, he casually tells me that he just got back to the country after several years in Europe.

Once in the café, the waiter comes to take our order.

He requests a minute. Then he leans across the table and in a serious tone informs me that he has only Sh500 to cover the date and his fare back home.

Naturally, I’m astounded.

To cut the story short, I bought him coffee and never returned his calls.
