Kanu Chairman Gideon Moi has criticised politicians meeting at night to strategise.
The former Baringo Central MP said such leaders are self centered and are out to ‘auction’ their communities for selfish gains.
He said leadership should be about service to the people and not negotiating political deals. He asked voters to reject such leaders at the ballot.
“There are many who have started the habit of auctioneering. Selling people who are alive. They are meeting at night with some promising that I would give you my people. You as a human being will you accept to be sold out?” he posed. “Leadership is about dialogue, it’s about identifying the needs of the people and not how you would get out of your predicaments,” Gideon said.
Gender rule
Early in the week, Raila met Ruto in what is seen as a move to woo back the Kalenjin vote bloc.
Speaking when he drummed up support for Mr Peter Langas who is gunning for the Samburu North Parliamentary seat on Friday, Gideon announced that Kanu national delegates shall decide whom the party shall back for the presidency.
He, however, insisted that the party’s manifesto must be in tandem with that of Kanu including prioritising peace and security.
During the same forum, Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat faulted some laws in the new Constitution.
He cited the two-thirds gender rule, saying Kenyans need a referendum to decide on some of the clauses in the document.
“I am happy that I voted no. It’s not possible to force Kenyans to elect a person because of gender. It’s only possible to elect a person out of choice. That is why we are saying that the architects if this document had a hidden agenda to fail this country,” he said.
Gideon promised that the party would ensure provision of free health services, free secondary education, clean water and spearhead infrastructural development.
