A man has been charged in a Kisumu Court with committing an unnatural offence by making love to a hen.

Steve Biko, was accused of having the carnal knowledge of the bird at Nyalenda Estate in Kisumu.

He was apprehended by neighbours who heard the hen making unusual noises from the house. When they moved in to find out what was happening, they found the accused holding it in his hands.

Testifying, before the Kisumu Principal Magistrate Ann Onginjo, a witness, Hellen Amondi, explained how she was washing clothes and heard the bird’s unusual noise.

"When I went to the house and peeped through the window, I saw blood oozing from the bird. The man was holding it. I screamed until many people came," she explained.

When people came, they checked and confirmed blood spills from the accused’s T-shirt, his hands and on the chair’s cushion, attesting to the fact that he committed the felony.

The suspect also had a scratch on his nose.

The court heard that the suspect must have had a rough time battling with the hen hence the scratch on his nose.

The irate neighbours reported the incident to the chief who arrested the man and handed him over to the police.

The suspect, however, denied the charges and was released on a Sh5,000 bond with a surety of similar amount.

The case will come up for hearing on June 26.
