Vile rapist nurse jailed for 18 years after filming himself raping unconscious patients

A vile nurse who filmed himself raping two unconscious women? patients while working at a hospital has been jailed for 18 years.

Andrew Hutchinson, 29, raped and molested patients as they lay unconscious in Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital hospital.

At Oxford Crown Court today, twisted Hutchinson was jailed after previously admitting attacking the women while unsuspecting colleagues carried out duties nearby.

The disgraced carer targeted at least 27 people, some as young as 10, in a perverted spree of sexual assaults, voyeurism and child porn possession.

The 29-year-old confessed he had been carrying out assaults since the age of 16.

Sexual predator Hutchinson also used a specialist throat camera to look up the skirt of a visitor as she stood at the bedside of a sick relative.

And he filmed young girls getting changed at a swimming pool.

Hutchinson also abused his position as a volunteer paramedic at a music festival to grope two women who had passed out in the first aid tent.

He raped and molested the A&E patients as they lay on beds in bays screened off by curtains.

After Hutchinson was remanded in custody, Detective Chief Inspector Mark Johns said: “This has been a complicated and unusual case as the victims of his sex offences were not aware offences took place because they were not conscious.

“We sent specially trained officers to personally speak to all the victims, who showed great courage when informed with such distressing news.

“He said he had a problem and he had been offending since the age of 16.

“Potentially there may be other victims we are unaware of.

“If anyone has any concerns they should get in touch with police.”

Pervert Hutchinson, who had a girlfriend, was arrested in 2013 after he was caught filming females aged 10 to 20 getting changed at White Horse Leisure Centre in Abingdon, Oxon.

A mobile phone, computer, memory stick and camera were seized from his home. Stunned police found a series of sordid videos on the devices. In one he was staring straight into the lens.

Footage of him sexually assaulting three women while on duty at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford was among them.

Two were patients aged 18 and 35 who had been raped. The other was the throat camera victim.

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust spokesman Mark Power said: “We have been shocked by the behaviour of the individual, who so badly let down both the patients he was entrusted to care for and his colleagues.

"He failed in his professional duties and responsibilities as a nurse. Our thoughts are with the victims.”

Police also found footage of Hutchinson molesting the two revellers at Wilderness Music Festival at Cornbury Park, Oxon, in 2013.

Of all the victims filmed, 11 were identified but the others could not be traced.

Hutchinson looked nervous as he stood in the dock at Oxford crown court while the charges were read out.

He pleaded guilty to all counts. They included rape, outraging public decency, voyeurism, making indecent images of children and stealing ketamine from the hospital.

The offences all took place between 2011 and 2013.

Hutchinson initially opened up in police interviews, when officers believed he was only a voyeur, and made several admissions.

But after his more serious crimes came to light he began answering “no comment”. Detectives said he had shown victims no remorse.

The vile pervert, who joined A&E in 2006, was allowed to treat patients on his own because he was so trusted.

Hutchinson, of Garford, Oxon, was held in custody until next month when he faces a jail sentence.
