Prisoner 'hires three bodyguards to protect him from other inmates in prison'

Perverted Gary Glitter has hired three prison enforcers to stop other inmates attacking him , it has been reported.

In February the former glam rocker, 70, was jailed for 16 years for carrying out a series of vile sex attacks on young girls.

Glitter - real name Paul Gadd - is on a sex offender's wing at HMP High Down in Surrey but is believed to have attracted the anger of other prisoners.

He reportedly retains the heavies by bribing them with tobacco from the prison canteen.

A source told the Sun : "He strolls around the yard with three guys constantly by his side, so that no one bothers him.

"They aren't the sort of blokes you mess with.

"Glitter looks healthy and happy and is swanning around like he's in a holiday camp."

When he was sentenced, the paedophile was told by a judge that he had used his fame in the Seventies to get girls alone and abused his position of trust.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Orchard, from Operation Yewtree - which was set up in the light of the Jimmy Savile scandal - said outside court that Glitter was a “habitual sexual predator who took advantage of the star status afforded to him”.

He added: “His lack of remorse and defence that the victims were lying make his crimes all the more indefensible.
