Law to allow Kajiado women to own land

Kenya: Kajiado County is set to pass a law that will see women in the county own land. According to the County’s Speaker Johnson Osoi, time is ripe to rid land ownership of gender prejudice.

“We have agreed that women should now inherit land and acquire title deeds, which is in line with the Constitution,” said the speaker, who revealed that the developed land policy would become law in two weeks’ time.

“We know this will not go down well with men, but we have to follow the law which now allows women to acquire land contrary to our traditions,” he added.
