Controversial Sonu chairman, Babu Owino, is a changed man, at least according to University of Nairobi’s Public Relations Manager, Charles Kiliku.
Kiliku said the Sonu chairman is now more mature than he was during his first term in office.
“We may have preferred working with somebody else, but the students chose their best. He has so far done well,” Kiliku added.
Babu told Campus Vibe on phone that: “I have no business judging himself. Let the students judge me because they are the ones who voted for me overwhelmingly.”
The Sonu chairman has attracted both love and hate from UoN students, and according to a fourth-year student of economics, George Mwangi, Babu, though influential, has failed to be nonpartisan in his politics.
Henricus Odero, a third-year student of pharmacy on the other hand believes Babu is the best university leader in the country.
“Look at how he brings together student leaders to a meeting without a hitch. He could the Nairobi governor in the making,” said Odero.
