MERU COUNTY: A middle aged woman who is 8 months pregnant is nursing injuries to her private parts at Meru Level 5 Hospital after allegedly being assaulted by her husband.

According to Jacinta Ndinda, she visited her husband who is an Administration Police officer based at Gatimbi AP station at Imenti Central Deputy County Commissioner’s office over the Easter holiday but was informed that he was not at the station.

She says her husband had been deployed to Gabella at the border of Meru and Isiolo counties and she decided to go there.

Jacinta says on arrival at the Gabella operation base the officer in charge gave them permission to go back to Gatimbi (the husband’s base station).

However, Monday morning at around 3am the husband came home drunk while carrying a bottle of beer.

“He started demanding for food but there were none in the house and that’s when a quarrel started.” She said.

The husband forced her to take the beer he had but she refused.  It is then that the husband started changing his clothes to put on his uniform.

“Then he forced me out of bed and ordered me to undress, I did.” Jacinta said.

The wife also claims that her husband threatened to kill her, showing her two bullets before hitting her unconscious with a blunt object.

He then made her to lie on her back and inserted the bottle of the beer in her private parts.

“He thought I was dead, then he sat down and started drinking the beer, he fell asleep giving me an opportunity to seek help” she narrated from her hospital bed.

Jacinta says she was helped by one of the AP officers to a nearby dispensary before being referred to Meru Level 5 Hospital.

According to Jamal Mohammed, a doctor at the hospital, Jacinta is in stable condition together with her unborn child.

Meru County Administration Police Commander Njue Njagi said they were treating the incident as domestic violence and that investigations have started.
