MP accuses CORD of constant negativity

Murang’a, Kenya: Gichugu MP Njogu Barua has urged CORD to stop being skeptical on the proposed digital registration of persons by the government.

Barua claimed CORD has formed a habit of criticising anything the government comes up with no matter how well intended.

“It is common knowledge that on realising the current analogue registration documents are easy to forge or fake, the government wants to introduce imitation proof digital registration of Kenyans which has nothing to do with the 2017 general elections,” he said.

Barua wondered why some CORD leaders were now going round during public rallies touting that the intended digital registration is tied with the 2017 general elections.

Speaking at Kianyaga market within his constituency Monday, Barua told off those CORD leaders who are instilling fear amongst gullible Kenyans that the 2017 general elections are being rigged in advance.

“Am particularly perturbed by the statement of my Bundalangi counterpart Ababu Namwamba that the intended digital registration of persons in an advance rigging of the 2017 general elections,” he quipped.

Barua also said the move by the government to carry out a countrywide security operation should be supported by the leadership across the political divide.

“When terrorists attack any part of this country, they direct such attacks to Kenyans regardless of their political affiliations, and as such, the entire leadership should move in one direction”, he said.

He told the CORD leadership to stop crying foul any time the government embarks on a particular move that is geared towards improving the quality of life for Kenyans.
