Isiolo, Kenya: The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has ordered for the arrest and prosecution of three criminal investigation officers attached to Isiolo Police Station.

In a letter to Senior State Council Andrew Omutelema, DPP Keriako Tobiko has preferred charges of murder against the police officers for allegedly shooting dead four suspects in their custody.

Tobiko said the accused: Henry Maitai, Samson Gene and George Mwenda murdered four suspects a day after they arrested them following increased cases of robbery in the area.

Those murdered were Benjamin Mugathi, Lawrence Mugambi, William Mutuma and Douglas Kwira.

According to prosecution evidence already in court, Archers Police Post OCS received a phone call on September 2012 from a stranger that some four bodies with bullet wounds were seen along the Archers - Wamba road junction.

A witness, Glory Kanana, identified all the bodies including that of her husband Mr Mutuma.

She told investigators that alongside three others, her husband was arrested by police officers in her house a day before their bodies were found dumped along the road.
