House help who allegedly stole 11-month old baby arrested in Nyeri

NAKURU COUNTY: Police have  arrested a house help who vanished with her employer's  11-month old baby boy from her house in Nakuru’s Pangani estate on Tuesday.  Police tracked down the house girl to Mweiga Nyeri, where she was found with the baby boy and another man who they are treating as an accomplice.  

The parents of the baby, together with the two suspects have since recorded a statement with the police at Mweiga police station  as investigations into the incident  have been launched.

The house girl was arrested  after her phone signal indicated she was  around Nyahururu on Tuesday before travelling to Nyeri where she was  nabbed by the police.

The mother of the child Mrs Gathai, had told The Standard that, Atieno,19, who had stayed with the family for only 14 days  was taking care of  the baby and two other children aged six and four.

According to the mother, “I had gone to work in the morning and had just returned to breastfeed my baby, but when I arrived at the house I only found my two children.Then  I asked  them where was the maid and the baby, they answered me that she  went out with another friend''.


That was  when she  reported the incident to Bondeni Police station and later to CID Nakuru police station to record a statement.
