Manchester United target Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp

David Moyes and Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen Klopp

Manchester United are looking at Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen Klopp as a replacement for David Moyes during the summer, Mirror reports.

United have reportedly held meetings last week with Dutch coach Luis Van Gaal, fueling speculation of Moyes’ imminent departure.

But while Van Gaal would be a candidate, Mirror Sport understands it is Klopp who is the first choice of the Old Trafford hierarchy.

The German has transformed Dortmund from a fourth place side to league champions, winning the German Bundesliga back in 2012.

He plays a very aggressive brand of attacking football and Manchester United feel that is exactly what is required to satisfy the Old Trafford faithful.

While the United board is ready to sanction a £200million summer spending spree, there are increasing doubts over whether Moyes is the man to be given the funds.

Klopp is also being closely monitored by Spanish giants Barcelona, who are looking to part with coach Tata Martino after this season.

The United board are also impressed with Klopp’s transfers, having purchased the likes of Marco Reus, Ilkay Gundogan, and Robert Lewandowski – are hoping he can bring players of similar caliber to Manchester.
