Clergy: Keep religion away from terror war

Kakamega: An Anglican Bishop in Western Kenya has warned against dragging religious matters into the ongoing exercise against terrorism.

As Christians marked Palm Sunday on Sunday, Mumias ACK Bishop Beniah Salala who led the faithful in a procession along the Kakamega-Mumias Road called on Kenyans to embrace the new initiatives being implemented by Government to curb terrorism.

Commenting on the current debate involving leader of Majority Aden Duale and his defence of the Somali community, the bishop cautioned against dragging party, religious or even ethnic differences into the war against terror.

Salala further called on religious leaders to take charge of the doctrines being taught at their institutions in order to prevent radicalisation of the faithful.

Elsewhere, Nairobi County Governor Dr Evans Kidero has said the war on terror should not be seen as a persecution of a religion or particular community.
