AFC Leopards woes continued as they survived by a whisker after earning a late equalser (1-1) against City Stars at the Mumias Sports Complex yesterday.

Ingwe conceded the first goal in the 53rd minute when City Stars striker, Kevin Ochieng’ netted the ball, forcing goalkeeper Martin Musalia to collect the ball from the goal post after a barren draw in the first half.

Efforts by Ingwe to equalise did not bear fruits until Jackson Salleh shook the net in the 81st minute after receiving a cross from winger Paul Were who came in early second half.

A 10-man Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) edged out Nakuru Top Fry 1-0 during yesterday’s KPL match at City Stadium.

Visiting Bandari stopped KCB 2-1 in yet another match at the same venue adding more misery on the bankers.

The win pushed KRA to fourth place on the log on 14 points giving then a dream start in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).

The only goal of the match was scored by Nigerian forward Joseph Emeka who rose up above the Top Fry defenders to head home the winner and give coach Ken Kenyatta his second consecutive win.

It was the visitors who showed early aggression with two attempts at goal. First, Stanslus Akiya hit the KRA post in the 20th minute and two minuets later Peter Nganga was denied by Philip Odhiambo in the KRa goal.

The taxmen had only one clear chance in the entire first half and this was dealt with well Ronnie Kagunzi when he stopped Philemon Otieno’s effort at goal.

At the beginning of the second half both sides made changes. Top Fry brought on John Ndirangu and Erastus Mwaniki for Daniel Kamau and Maurice Odhiambo.. The tax men on the other hand rested Roosevalt Blatty for Joseph Emeka as both sides went all out for the winner.

Former Gor Mahia midfielder Ivan Anguyo should have put KRA ahead in the 51st minute from a wonderful free kick but his effort was dealt with well by Roonie Kagunzi in goal.

Two minutes later, Anguyo was denied again by Kagunzi and from the counter-attack Peter Nganga failed to convert for the losers.

Though KRA picked maximum points, they ended the match with ten men after Kevince Ochieng was sent off for a second bookable offense.

In Chemelil, home side Chemelil Sugar and Mathare United played out a barren draw in a dull Tusker Premier League, yesterday.

The first-half of the match lacked any spark and goal attempts by both teams.

After the break, the hosts Chemelil Sugar, cheered on by scores of partisan home fans, made a crucial substitution benching last year’s KPL second runner-up young player of the year Stephen Wakanya with burly striker David Nyangor.
