A granny is appealing to Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere to intervene and have a 25-year-old man who allegedly raped her in Buuri District in Meru arrested.

The 80 year old woman said she reported to the police immediately the incident happened but police are yet to arrest the man.

She said the incident occurred Tuesday at around 3pm when the suspect, who is well known to her, accosted and raped her as she fetched firewood.

The suspect allegedly attacked her with a panga and he threatened to kill her if she raised alarm.

She said the suspect molested her and then fled.

“I reported at Tutua Police Station but the young man has not been arrested,” said the woman.

The elderly woman said she fears for her life since her husband died many years ago.

Buuri deputy police boss Joel Chebii said they are still investigating the incident and will apprehend the suspect once investigations are complete.
