Police in Makueni County are investigating an incident in which an elderly woman was raped and strangled to death.
Makueni police chief Joshua ole Leina said the body of Elizabeth Nduku, 62, was discovered inside her house in Kiu location, Mukaa District on Sunday.
He said the killing was reported to the police in Salama who visited the scene and took the body to Machakos Level Five Hospital mortuary.
Leina said the motive of the murder could not be immediately established, adding the deceased’s mobile phone was stolen.
The OCPD has appealed to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the assailants to report to the police.
