Are you your sister's keeper?

Inevitably, a homestead that has a beautiful spinster attracts smitten individuals both young as well as shameless old men like moths and fire.

And in an effort to keep the ‘predators’ at bay, some old men keep the most vicious dogs and literally stay up all night to discourage overzealous types who might try to sneak into the girl’s room in the middle of night.

Dowry guard

Well, it’s understandable when a father does everything in his power to ensure that some young lad does not ‘spoil’ her daughter — before he milks dowry for him.

But there are some young lads who go the whole hog when chasing other people’s daughters or sisters but are a different kettle of fish when it comes to their own siblings, whom they are defend like brooding hen.

The so-called ‘protector’ will not only be telling his sister that he doesn’t like her association with certain dude for such trivial issue such as a girl from his village rejected him. He will even warn a guy that if he doesn’t want his rib cage broken he should stop salivating after his sister.

It’s not only in the village that such rascals exist. I have heard of city born dude who get pissed when their sister(s) dances with rivals at a social gathering.

Such morons have even gone to an extent of threatening to disown their own sister if she dares jump the broom with a guy they hate. Truth be told it’s because he is not rich or educated enough to have as a brother-in-law.

Love issues

Whenever you meet a woman who doesn’t get along with her brothers it is because she refused to let them meddle in her love life.

It’s time someone told the overzealous sister’s keepers who think that they can dictate to their own siblings whom they can or can’t.
