A 12-year-boy died and three others were injured after landslides swept 13 houses in four villages in Kabasis, Baringo Central District following heavy down pour.

Kimoi Kiplagat, a witness, said the Standard Five pupil at Kabirmoi Primary School was on his way home and had taken shelter at a neighbour’s house when the incident occurred.

“It was around 7pm when the boy who had been rained on came to my house and was by the fire side in the kitchen as my children were taking lunch in the other house when heavy mudslide occurred,” said Mr William Cherop.

He said his three children escaped narrowly when the big boulders fell on the kitchen and buried the boy alive. Cherop called the area chief and villagers who unsuccessfully attempted to save the boy.
