Updated Thursday, August 9th 2012 at 00:00 GMT +3

Bones believed to be of a man who disappeared mysteriously from his home 13 years ago in Gatura, Gatanga district, have been found in his collapsed house.

It is said the deceased was living alone in a one-roomed wooden house at his plot after separating with his wife for years.

According to his step brother William Kamau efforts to trace him for all those years were futile.

Mr Kamau says the deceased’s son who is in his early 20s decided to go and clear his father’s bushy plot at the site of the collapsed house.

While digging the site of the house, it is said he pulled some clothes and a heap of stones put on bags of cement before he discovered the bones buried underneath.

Mr Kamau positively identified the clothes as those of his brother; Joseph Karanja Wainaina.

Hundreds of locals thronged the scene to have a glimpse of the remains.

Police who arrived at the  scene put the bones in bags and went away with them after recording a statement from family members.
