The Kenya Music Festival 2012 edition has received Sh3 million from the Kenya Tourist Board (KTB).

KTB Head of Finance Mr Jonah Orumoi said they were keen to harness local tourism as the festival showcases the best of Kenyan music and tradition and has become a big tourist attraction.

“We want to encourage Kenyans to embrace quality leisure time beyond the traditional Mombasa and Masai Mara Game Reserve,” said Orumoi.

The festival Executive Secretary, Mr Benson Abwao, welcomed the support, saying it was in tandem with the rotational programme of the festival. “By taking the festival to different provincial capitals, students have been able to savour the variety that is Kenya’s landscape and its people,” said Abwao.
