A Ugandan national has been arrested and cocaine valued at Sh4 million recovered from him in Nairobi.
The suspect was arrested from a bus that was headed for Kampala on Friday evening following a tip off.
Okumu said he was arrested in the city centre after he had boarded the bus.
“We are yet to know where he got the substance but we believe there is a main supplier who we are now hunting down. One of the prime suspects is a Nigerian who is on the run,” said Okumu.
The police boss added they have intensified their operations in the city and other parts of the country in efforts to address the menace.
Okumu said the suspect is expected in court on Monday to face charges of trafficking narcotics.
He added they have made several seizures in the city in recent raids and urged for public support to succeed in the operations.
Two weeks ago, the officers seized heroin valued at Sh18 million from a residential house in Jacaranda estate in Nairobi and arrested three suspects including a Nigerian national. The suspects are facing charges in court.
